Planning & Initial Concept Development

We conducted interviews with 20 students, including five who had studied abroad, to understand their travel needs. Key insights highlighted the demand for safety, budget-conscious options, and ways to build community while traveling. The research also considered how COVID-19 disrupted study abroad programs, increasing interest in self-driven travel experiences.

Asset Creation & Brand Implementation

Analyzing Airbnb’s existing UI, we created wireframes and high-fidelity screens, prioritizing usability and accessibility. In the 2022 update, I refined typography, icon placement, and navigation to improve readability and functionality. The "Companion Finder" feature was also enhanced with preference-based filtering.

Ensuring Seamless Navigation

After implementing updates, I tested the revised prototype for readability and ease of navigation. Adjustments were made based on feedback to ensure a more intuitive experience, making Airbnb Student a more practical and inclusive extension for young solo travelers.
